Country overview
About Lithuania
Lithuania is a republic on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea. Vilnius is the capital and the largest city. About 2.8 million people live here. It borders Latvia, Belarus, Poland and Russia’s Kaliningrad region. Lithuanian is the official language. The euro is the currency.
Lithuania joined the European Union in 2004, Schengen in 2007, and the euro area in 2015. It is the largest of the three Baltic states by population, with a services and technology sector around Vilnius and Kaunas, and an EU land bridge toward Poland. English is widely used in business in the larger cities. The legal system is civil law.
Brikseka forms Lithuanian companies. The usual vehicle is an uždaroji akcinė bendrovė (UAB). No local director is required. Incorporation does not require a visit.
We then advise on a business bank account and payment gateways such as Stripe and PayPal. Approvals are decided by the providers. If your aim is to live in Lithuania, company formation is not a residence permit — that is a separate immigration file, which we also advise on. Residence is assessed on activity and capitalisation, not on a newly filed UAB alone.
Company formation
We form a UAB at the Lithuanian register. Incorporation does not require a visit. We then stay with the file through banking and payments.
European Union and euro
EU member since 2004, in Schengen, and in the euro area since 2015. A Lithuanian company sits inside the single market and invoices in euro.
Baltic Europe
The largest Baltic market by population, with Vilnius as the commercial centre and a land border with Poland.
Tax setting
The published standard corporate income tax rate is 17 percent from 2026, after increases in the mid-2020s, with a lower rate for qualifying small companies. We confirm the live position before you proceed.
