Merchant of record

A merchant of record becomes the seller. They take the card, handle VAT in many markets, and pay you. You do not own the underlying merchant account.

We brief Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, and Polar when the entity country cannot take a native Stripe merchant account, when a new foreign company would be disproportionate, or while a merchant account is pending. Fees are higher than Stripe. Catalogue rules still apply — they will not sell every product.

How we work

From shortlist to a filed application

  1. 1

    Fit

We check the product against what the merchant of record will actually sell.

  2. 2

    Vendor file

We prepare the store, tax profile, and payout account they review.

  3. 3

    Connect

We submit and connect payouts. They decide, and they remain the seller of record.

Merchant of record

These companies become the seller. They collect the card, handle VAT in many markets, and pay you. Fees are higher than a native Stripe account, and you do not own the underlying merchant account.

  • Paddle is a merchant of record for software and digital products. Paddle is the seller of record; you are the vendor they pay. It is used when the entity country cannot take Stripe, or when a new foreign company would be disproportionate.

We brief Paddle on entities that cannot take a native Stripe merchant account, and as an alternative while a merchant account is pending.

    How we help

We confirm the product fits Paddle’s catalogue rules, prepare the vendor file, and connect payouts to the account you already have. Paddle decides.

  • Lemon Squeezy is a merchant of record for digital products, now part of Stripe. It still operates as MoR: Lemon Squeezy is the seller, not your company. Useful for smaller catalogues and creator products.

We brief Lemon Squeezy on the same files as Paddle: digital products, no native Stripe merchant account, or a company that would be disproportionate.

    How we help

We check catalogue fit, prepare the store file, and connect payouts. Lemon Squeezy decides.

  • Polar is a merchant of record aimed at developers and open-source products. Polar is the seller of record; payouts come to you after their fees.

We brief Polar where the product is developer-facing and a native merchant account is unavailable or not yet worth forming a company for.

    How we help

We confirm Polar is the right MoR for the product, prepare the vendor profile, and connect payouts. Polar decides.

Provider lists are indicative. We confirm current availability during consultation. Official websites open in a new tab; Brikseka is not those companies, and we do not guarantee their approval.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as Stripe?

No. With Stripe, your company is the merchant. With a merchant of record, they are the merchant. You receive a payout after their fees. You do not own their Stripe account.

Can they pay a Pakistani operator?

Often yes, on digital products, without forming a foreign company. That is the point of the structure. They still run their own KYC, and they still decide.

Why are fees higher?

Because they take the tax, chargeback, and seller-of-record burden. If the brief is a long-term company in a Stripe country, we usually prefer a native merchant account.
