Country overview
About Kuwait
Kuwait is an emirate at the northern end of the Persian Gulf. Kuwait City is the capital and the commercial centre. About 4.9 million people live here. It borders Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Arabic is the official language. The currency is the dinar (KWD).
Kuwait is a high-income Gulf economy built on energy, government contracting and a substantial domestic market. Some activities still require a local partner. The Kuwait Free Zone (KFZ) is used where a free-zone vehicle fits the licence. English is used in business in Kuwait City. Formation costs and substance expectations are higher than a simple remote company.
Brikseka forms companies in Kuwait. The usual vehicles are a with-limited-liability company (WLL) or a Kuwait Free Zone company. A visit is required. Incorporation is not completed remotely. Some activities still require a local partner. No local director is required for every structure, but in-person licensing and banking are part of the file. Timeframes typically run from four to twelve weeks.
We then advise on a Kuwaiti business bank account and on local acquiring. Stripe is not available as a merchant account on a Kuwaiti company. Banks work in person. Approvals are decided by the providers. If your aim is to live in Kuwait, company formation is not a residence permit — that is a separate immigration file, which we also advise on.
