Kazakhstan is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union. The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) is an English-law financial centre in Astana, with its own court and regulator, used for holding, funds and professional-services structures. Mainland companies sit under Kazakh civil law. English is the working language of the AIFC. The domestic economy is substantial by regional standards, with energy, logistics and services centred on Astana and Almaty.
