About Austria
Austria is a landlocked republic in the Eastern Alps of Central Europe. It is a federation of nine states, with Vienna as the capital and largest city. About 9.2 million people live here. It borders Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. German is the official language, and the euro is the currency.
Austria joined the United Nations in 1955, the European Union in 1995, and the euro area in 1999. It is part of the Schengen area. Vienna hosts the OSCE, OPEC’s secretariat, and a United Nations campus. The country has one of the highest levels of GDP per capita in the European Union and a reputation for legal certainty. For businesses, that combination means access to the EU single market, a German-speaking DACH region, and a practical base for Central and Eastern Europe.
Brikseka forms Austrian companies. The usual vehicle is a Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung (GmbH). Formation is completed with a local notary and registration in the commercial register. Share capital is required, and it is a real cost — this is an operating company, not a paper entity. Company documents can often be prepared remotely; identification, banking, or immigration may still require travel.
We then advise on a business bank account and payment gateways such as Stripe and PayPal. Approvals are decided by the providers. If your aim is to live in Austria, company formation is not a residence permit — that is a separate immigration file, which we also advise on.
